 Freedom, pluralism, independence and security are the concepts that serve as the foundation of the report Global Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development, which offers a summary discussion of the global situation of freedom of the press and the safety and security of journalists. The report was presented before the General Conference of the UNESCO Member States in November 2013. Special attention is paid to the influence exercised by technological and economic changes in the structures and regulation of the media. The report presents and explores the variations in each region and country.
